My husband and I have recently been thinking about converting some warehouse space to live in, and while I'm obsessing over how I would furnish it, I was reminded of this amazing duplex loft apartment in New York that is the home of architect/designer James Mohn and his partner. The space was published back in the Feb/March 2004 edition of Elle Decor, but its been firmly planted in the back of my mind ever since. The high ceilings and sheer amount of light is definitely appealing, but they've used the space so perfectly I think. Plus, I'm in love with the artwork and their furniture...

I can't find the Elle Decor article through the link. Is the furniture in their loft by them, do you know? It looks similar to another designer's.
I remember this photo...the design is perfection, even the rug is pure wonder. Good luck with the new loft--exciting. Mary
I live in a 23 year old city apartement in the harbor of Amsterdam and recently converted a bedroom and a kitchen into one big open space.. It feels like a loft and I furnished it with industrial furniture I found and some handmade cupboards ;)
Come over and have a look;)

I love the natural light entering the interior. It's not only economical but natural lights gives the mood. Happy New Year!
Hi Columnist - there is no link, sorry, I couldn't find one on the Elle Decor site. If you google his name on their website a few images will come up, otherwise check out his website which is also linked from the post. I think most of the furniture is vintage, however.
you sound inspired. congratulations!
