Here are a few of the photos I took at the studio apartment over the weekend. Work has come to a standstill because of the impending Chinese New Year holidays...so these might be the last photos for a few weeks. But I'm excited...they've made real progress!
Its very much a construction site... but I'm excited by how much bigger it looks already without the internal walls, and one large window instead of two. Unfortunately the temporary balustrade they built outside the window is still there so its hard to get an idea of the full view...
From this angle you can see the new, slightly larger bathroom on the right...and the space where the kitchenette will be on the left (where all those power sockets are in the wall)
Looking into the new bathroom...
Looking out into the living space from the bathroom...
And the roof....the old ugly light fittings are gone, the floor has had a new layer of concrete, the concealed light fittings are almost there...and we now have the structure of the cabinetry that will house a sink, mini-bar fridge, washer/dryer and the hot water system. Its going to be a nice place for a BBQ when the weather gets better here!

Starting to take shape! Looks like a great place!
I pray that it turns out okay.
Thanks guys...I know its not much to look at yet...but we're getting there!
looks great so far. but makes you also realize the luxury of space we enjoy in europe (except london and paris).
washer and dryer outside? isnt that a little dangerous? weather there can be intense, no?
it's gorgeous! haha- can't wait to see the progress, good luck!! it looks like a dream job - and what a lot of trees there are!!
Lorenz, its quite safe, the washer/dryer will be completely housed in a water-proof cabinet - but thanks! Its only going outside for space saving reasons...unfortunately a bit of a necessity in HK!
awesome- i love construction pics! too often people don't appreciate all the work that goes into a renovation- it ain't just a wave a the magic wand!
Oh My! You've done quite alot! Can't wait!
Windows like those in O'Brien's or Roberts' example would have been great.
sorry about the "would'a, could'a, should'a"...
Even in the raw stage it looks a thousand times better than before! I can't wait to see the final reveal!
Lorenz, those were exactly the windows we wanted, but unfortunately would have been custom made, and not within our budget...perhaps next time!
Thanks HC!
M21 - me too...must be a genetic defect, but I LOVE construction pics!
this is gonna be great once it's all done.
good luck
