An oldy but a goody

I had a reader request over the weekend to send some images of the Steven Stolman apartment from the May 2004 Elle Decor, and I thought I might just go ahead and post it. Partly also because its a relatively small space (around 1,100 sq ft or 102 sq mtrs) and a similar size as my new apartment, and I thought it might be some fun inspiration. He's used great colours here that are fun and refreshing, and I especially love the master bedroom (posted previously HERE) and the den. I am contemplating painting our living room a similar chocolate brown, but not sure - it may just end up "renters white" - so stay tuned. Hope you enjoy!

So, Hadley, whoever (I'm assuming it's not the one and only Mr Albert, but I can dream ;) and wherever you are, this is for you!

  1. thank you! and not to disappoint but not mr. albert. you should paint the living room chocolate brown, i did and have never gotten so many compliments, not to mention i have never gotten sick of it. benjamin moore's grizzly bear brown is what i used.

  3. This is a goody, and I'm glad you reposted it. Even with the jolts of yellow, the home seems quite tranquil. The chocolate brown walls are gorgeous!

  4. Hadley, no problem! And I didn't think it was anyway, so not a disappointment. My only problem with painting brown (not that I'm scared of painting such a dark colour) is painting over it in white when we leave...which could be a bit of a headache...guess I need to figure out if its worth it!

  5. Aesthete - It's so well done, don't you think? Reminds me a little of a Saladino room...

  6. Jennifer -actually I should have said it was also partly for you...I remembered you saying you hadn't seen this spread, or you didn't have a copy. Have you picked up one since? I certainly didn't mind...its a great apartment!
