Modern Graphic Bathrooms

My posting has been a bit sporadic lately, and there are a few reasons why...namely, the company I work for installed a firewall recently which blocks, amongst many other things, blogger. I was in the habit of reading and writing blog posts during my lunch break, because honestly its the only free time I've had recently. No more. That, and we've had a friend from Australia staying with us. The lucky girl has been trekking around Asia the last month and left the not so sunny shores of Hong Kong for Paris yesterday. *sigh* Are you as jealous as I am? Anyway, I do digress. What I wanted to post was these stunning images of graphic modern bathrooms. I haven't done a bathroom round-up for a while, and these are the ones that have been the inspiration lately for the never-ending imaginary renovation I have in my head. Hope you like!

Two stunners by Pierre Yovanovitch - the really bold combination of black and white marble in these is stunning.

Love both of these, by the master Jacques Grange for the new Mark Hotel in NY.
Can't remember the source or origin of either of these...but the black with the blue in the first image is a nice combo.

And last, but most definitely not least, this stunner by Joseph Dirand. This has to be at the top of my list at the moment. I'm really loving the combination of the black and white graphic floor and the silver leaf tiles....so glam. What about you - what's your favorite bathroom at the moment?

Fabulous Frank

It's no secret I'm a fan of Frank Roop's work, so its no surprise that I also stalk his website...here are a few pics of a new project that have been posted since I last checked it out. This lovely home shows all the trademarks of a signature Roop interior...a great mix of furniture and styles, a stunning array of colours from the blue and green spectrum, and stylishly bordered curtains (see the living room image). Plus, its so bright and fresh looking. Does he only take on clients who have amazing light in their homes?

I sooo want a set of these chic suitcases from Pinel & Pinel (pink would be nice, but I'd settle for any colour really) for my next holiday...

Today I'm loving...

this fabulous Moneypenny chair by UK based Aiveen Daly (who has done work for the likes of Paul Smith and David Collins)...just the right amount of femininity, and detailing to die for!

Piet Boon

Since a client showed me his new book last weekend, I've been a tad infatuated with the work of Dutch designer Piet Boon. There are so many great photos on his website, these are just a few of my faves...

sorry, no time for a 'real' post...

The Maison 21 OCDD Challenge

The ever so lovely and talented Christian of Maison 21 Blog has laid down the design gauntlet again. The Obsessive Compulsive Decorating Disorder (OCDD) is something most of us design bloggers suffer from, and this challenge is the perfect way to help us all stay sane, especially in financial times like these...

The OCDD challenge involves using at least 2 items from the original entry (I'm keeping the cerused oak floors and the lovely Twombly painting) or from the Maison 21 atelier inventory.

After much deliberation, here is my fantasy living room (please excuse the terrible photoshop skills!). These are all items I've been lusting after for some time, and given the opportunity and no budget constraints, this is what I would love to put together. I'm sure all of these will be nixed next month when I find something else I love even more, but then that's the whole idea of a fantasy project, right?

I'm a little bit obsessed with black, grey and brass together at the moment...as you can probably tell!

Ceiling light by Serge Mouille, the Twombly painting from the original post, Sofa is a vintage Monteverde-Young design (now sold) from 1st Dibs, small red side table is by Herve Van Der Straeton, black resin mirror by Louis Durot, console vintage French (now sold) also from 1st Dibs, Taccia table lamp from Flos, Bronze sculptures by Lucio Fontana, Paolo Buffa (attr.) armchair from Animali Domestici in London, and Taccia table by Meret Oppenheim from Von Zezschwitz.

Busy busy busy...

To say I've been busy these last few weeks is somewhat of an understatement. The studio apartment I've been working on is due to be finished this weekend, and all the furniture and appliances we've purchased will be delivered the following weekend. We spent last weekend shopping for furniture, mostly in Ikea because of budget restraints, but we did buy a few little pieces from Lane Crawford when they were on sale a few months back, including

2 Series 7 chairs by Arne Jacobsen

a lovely Jielde task lamp for the bedside

and a funky little Tivoli i-pod docking station..I think I want one of these for me!

I promise to post some photos once it's complete...
